Alleman, IA – Alan Jenkins has been named the new head coach of the North Polk boys basketball program, pending board approval. The Atlantic native arrives with 14 years of coaching experience, including time at Atlantic and Southeast Polk. Jenkins brings a proven track record and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court.

A 2003 graduate of Atlantic High School and a 2008 graduate of Iowa State University, Jenkins led the Atlantic basketball program to consistent success, including winning 15+ games in five of seven seasons and earning top-10 rankings in Class 3A during five of those years. In 2017, Jenkins’ teams qualified for the state tournament, marking the first appearance since 2002. Under his leadership, Atlantic won three Hawkeye 10 Conference Championships.

Most recently, at the helm for Southeast Polk, Jenkins helped transform a program that had faced challenges in recent years, leading the team to three consecutive winning seasons, the first streak of sorts since 2011.

In addition to his basketball coaching experience, Jenkins also served as the head track coach at Atlantic, leading the team to a State Runner-Up finish in 2018. Beyond basketball, Jenkins is currently a 6th-grade social studies teacher at Southeast Polk Middle School.

"I am incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to lead the boys basketball program at North Polk," Jenkins said. "Collaboratively, we will continue to establish a program that provides our youth a chance to develop as both basketball players and people. Go Comets!"

Welcome to Comet Nation, Coach Jenkins!
