Principal's Message

Welcome to Big Creek Elementary!

I am honored to serve as the Principal of Big Creek! Our building is the third elementary school to serve the North Polk District and has around 350 students in grades 3-5. At Big Creek Elementary we believe that all students can learn at high levels and we work as a professional learning community to help students achieve that goal. In addition to supporting academic goals, we strive to help support the social-emotional needs of our staff and students as well. We have amazing educators that are passionate about their work and help us live out our mission of Learning for All by Learning from All.

After graduating from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics from The University
of Iowa. I later earned a Masters's degree in Elementary Education from Viterbo University and then my Masters in Educational Leadership also from Viterbo University. Before coming to North Polk in 2020, I taught and was an instructional coach at ADM.

When I am not at school my family keeps me busy. My husband Chad is a teacher and we two have boys, Carson and Caleb. My favorite things to do are travel, spend time with friends and family, cheer for the Hawkeyes and Cubs, and watch our kids do what they love.
